Chalkboard Mats

When the boys were babies, I purchased my first serger. Over the years, I have played with it, but never really learned to "use" it. So, over a month ago, I signed up for a "Serger Savvy" class offered by a friend of mine at her Granbury quilt shop. Following the class, I just had to do a bit of shopping in her fabric boutique. I discovered chalkboard fabric. Debbie had a project sheet detailing the instructions to make a "Chalkboard Mat".
I bought the supplies and several weeks later, finally sat down the week of Thanksgiving to make these for my young
est nieces and nephews who range in age from 2 1/2 to 9.
These mats hold several pieces of chalk and a sponge eraser. They roll into a nice bundle with a carry handle. All of the kids seemed to enjoy them!
